No, The Damn Servers Aren’t Up Yet, Sheesh

Steaks on a Plain Ajido (Samuell) is claiming the title “freakin evil genius” for his Warcraft guild name. (Future generations: this is a spoof on the recently released movie, Snakes on a Plane, starring Samuel L. Jackson. I have to say that or else I’ll see this a year later and wonder why I ever thought this was hilarious.)

In another thread, Camule, of an unknown realm (because the forum logins are messed right now for maintenance), asked players to recount their World of Warcraft sins and transgressions in “What’s the worse thing you’ve ever done in game?”, amply proving that human beings are not of divine origin. Thank you for that, because I still had some hope.

Looking at the battlegroups for the cross-server battlegrounds, I see that my server will be grouped with my former SWG guild’s server. (Later, I’ll go trash talk on their boards to start building a little rivalry.) I expect that initially, my current guild will get our asses handed to us by the PVP-realm crowd, but I’m confident that with some minimal practice, superior gear will win the day. Of course, I will claim this is SKILL because I do have an ego.

Lastly, desperate for a Patch 1.12 mirror? Seek and ye shall find at WoWWiki. (WoW Raiders: Update your CT-RaidAssist also. Don’t annoy your guild, like my guildmates will, by waiting until five minutes before the scheduled raid start time to do this.)

Official Patch 1.12 notes after jump:

Cheap Ass Carnival of Gamers

Darkshore Flickering FlameThe late summer edition of The Carnival of Gamers is available for consumption at Cheap Ass Gamer. There is reading available for every budget, even you starving gamers who are reading this from the public library computers.

Speaking of clearance sales, going cheap, my primary Warcraft account: Level 60 Human Rogue, PVE-US server, PVP rank 9, reasonable reputation on the server, (and by that I mean I’m on a few ignore lists, but that’s nothing some apologies and a few minutes of insincere flattery won’t solve), and, as a special bonus, I’ll even throw in my guild for free — #3 in spendable DKP, baby!! Grab what you want with both hands! (Minors are advised to turn on the in-game word censor.)

Disclaimer: No, you can’t buy my stuff. Yet. However, each week of drama brings new hope.
Also: The next Carnival of Gamers will be hosted by Man Bytes Blog in October 2006.

Use American Keyboards Dammit!

In another example of great minds thinking alike, emailer Chuck of the Warcraft-Server-That-Is-Not-Mine (I checked) found this new farmer tactic:

Farmers' Market(ing)

On the same night, I had screenshot the same farmer/team on my own server — not Chuck’s server (I checked):

Farmers' Market(ing)

I’m not really sure why non-standard characters are allowed on U.S. servers in the first place. It’s not like we’re all that fanatic about typing &#0252ber over uber.

(If only my guild could see me now, using non-standard characters as if it was second nature. Their hope in ignorant, isolationist Americans would be restored.)

If some dude uses non-standard characters in his player name, I just don’t bother talking to him or ihr. Mostly because it would involve research to establish a friendship, but also it’s the principle of the matter.
