Viral Marketing Evolves

Viral marketing evolves further from the primordial mud: I first saw a thread, similar to this one, on my Warcraft realm forums. The thread is a chatty little bit about a Warcraft dating site, if you’re too lazy to click. Let’s say I saw this on Moonrunner, which I didn’t because I don’t play on Moonrunner so don’t look for me there. (Repeating: the answer is NOT Moonrunner.) Anyways … thinks me, “boy, that thread looks like a plant”, so I checked level 1 gnome Caseclosed’s post history, suspecting a viral marketer, however, the history looks pretty standard for yer average slack-jawed yokel. Hmmm. Searching back to page 3 of his history and earlier … the viral marketing is unmasked! (i.e. many, many duplicate posts chatting up the WoW dating site across many, many realms.) This joker made a bunch of “bla bla nerf this, buff my class” posts so that his history would stand up to a casual inspection. That had to take some effort. Ya, These Things Frost Me Too

From the venerable Warcraft forums (“Questionable searchs for over two years”) comes a thread soliciting players’ game peeves, “In-Game Oddities That Raise Blood Pressures”. One of the thread author’s examples: “I get killed, I’m a ghost. A GHOST. Spirit form, without solid essence. Why, then, can I not walk through the simplest thing as a picket fence?” Clever, witty thread with many of the nuisances we’ve all endured in Azeroth. (Furl archive of thread)

He R Teh Dying Agen

Are you like me? Do you love the fake cancer operation internet people? I thought so. It’s not just that they are so starved for attention that they fake dire medical conditions, it’s also that they use such a tired, oft-exposed technique. If someday I did develop cancer or a serious heart condition, and, for some reason (that I cannot imagine right now) needed to notify my servermates, I’d say I had serious diabetes complications instead. More believable, could be just as deadly. At any rate, here’s another fake serious medical condition person with a miraculous recovery just in time to play Warcraft again: Thanks foe the HACK ( FROM TOP TO BOTTOM). Reply #13 summarizes the “patient’s” drama resume on the Norgannon server. (Archive of thread: Use Furl and/or Flickr screenshot)
