As you might guess, I love devilish pranks with naming filters. BoingBoing completed an investigation of MSN Spaces’ naming filters, MSN’s new blogging service, with some hilarious results. One of my fondest EQ memories is when duel results would be broadcast in the public channels. Was it just zonewide or serverwide? My memory fogs on that point. My all-time favorites: “Thelag has defeated Yourconnection in a duel to the death!” and “Nerfs has defeated Yourfun in a duel to the death!”

The Dead EQ Scrolls
I was straightening out my home office this week and I unearthed a pile of my old MMOG notebooks. What’s that? You don’t know what a MMOG notebook is?
OMG, noob.
There’s a lot of information in online gaming that I’ve had to sift through and, in the old days, we didn’t have your fancy shmancy quest logs and your hoity toity User Interface Quest Cheat Sheets and all that nonsense. We played MMOGs like manly men and took notes.
Yes, you can feel free to make fun of me at this point. My god, I needed therapy and no one noticed this?!?!?!
Day One
Day One of World of Warcraft … what a day, what a race, what a queue it’s been.
You might wonder, why isn’t Foton playing WoW right now instead of typing up a few notes? Let me tell ya, Foton would still be in WoW right now except Foton was STUPID and logged off for a quick dinner and is now sitting in the queue at 10 pm pacific time. Wait time so far, 30 minutes. Estimated remaining, 30 minutes.
This can’t go on. I’ll have to hire a small neighborhood child to begin the login process when I leave work each night. Gonna be hell on guilds with planned events in the evening.
Earlier, a guildmate reported that he waited two hours in the queue. Admittedly, that guy is frequently tanked when he logs on, so for all I know the wait was four hours and he just thinks it was only two. The guildmember that logged in about 30 minutes after that reported his queue time was one hour.
