From the Warcraft forums, a dwarf hunter complains about the price of celebrity connected to his much coveted, crazy-rare, CURSED Baron Rivendare’s Mount. (Warcraft noobs: Here’s the Baron’s Deathcharger mount) He explains: “I don’t mind the whispers, but being told about 20-30 times a day that I am hated is not so fun. Of course they mean it in jest, as in, ‘OMG is that the barons mount? I hate u! U lucky SOB, grats’. This hurts me and I sometimes cry myself to sleep.” (Furl archive to use when live thread is dead. Update: Never mind Furl, it’s dead too.)

Something Awful in Warcraft
Something Awful has been hitting the high notes lately with their Art of Warcraft columns. I haven’t been following SA as closely as I did, oh, 4 years ago. Fortunately, emailer Shin has been doing the work for me and tipped me to SA’s The 1st Annual “Best of Being a Dickhead” Awards Ceremony, an anecdote showcase of players being dickheads to other players. You will also enjoy the latest Art of Warcraft, Epic Mounts: Love in Warcraft (part 1), an experiment in the economies of cybersex. (includes screenshots!) The author, Caylen “Abraham” Burroughs, concluded the experiment by warning two of her/his subjects that they might want to get character name changes. Yeah. Ya think?
Larger than Life
Monitor envy: Quake 3 running at 10240×3072 resolution on 24 monitors and Warcraft 2 running at 3840×2160 on 9 monitors. No matter who you are, there’s someone with a better setup. I would except Bill Gates there, but he’s probably playing Warcraft on a 15″ LCD discarded by Accounting.
