Hotfix, Another

There’s some sound fix available through the World of Warcraft launcher, I guess: “Tools Hotfix 12/12/06”. There’s a link in that thread for the manual fix, which may or may not help with post-patch framerate issues. I haven’t played Warcraft with sound enabled since December 2004, although I did run the Burning Crusade with sound for a few days until that damn cello music in the Blood Elf noob areas drove me to drink. I actually think the sound in Warcraft is done quite well, but enough already.

Patch Side Effects

I’m going to love this side effect of patching in expansion content pre-expansion: opposite faction gear (for now) dropping in the 40-man instances. (To wit: WoW Forums – Judgement Crown drop for Horde?) For those who don’t/haven’t played WoWarcraft, Horde can’t be paladins; Alliance can’t be shaman. Until the expansion that is, when Horde can be paladins and Alliance can be shaman. Pre-this patch, Horde raids didn’t loot paladin-only gear and Alliance didn’t loot shaman-only gear. Now they can. End of Lesson. Seriously, why bother raiding anymore. Pulling opposite faction gear off Onyxia is one thing (4 trash pulls), pulling it off of Ragnaros or Nefarian is quite another (multi-hour clears of the entire zone to get to each). Fuck raiding, I’m going to PVP with a warlock. (Archive: WoW Forum – Judgement Crown drop for Horde?, page 1)

CTScreens

The CT team (they of CTRaidAssist and CTProfiles) recently introduced their latest project to a screenshot-laden world, CTScreens, a Warcraft screenshot hosting service. The service is free, you can upload .tga image files directly to the service, and, you can use your CTProfiles account to sign into CTScreens. There’s a few functions I wish it had, but since I don’t want to use MY server space for guild screenshots, I’ll be a regular user. Free hosting is good enough for a guild of scrubs like them.
