World of Warcraft Patch 2.2 …

… not today.

See? It wouldn’t be blue if it wasn’t true.

In other no-patch-today news, the voice-chat-beta-testing live realms are receiving extra maintenance today — all others are rolling restarts.

The voice-chat realms are: Aerie Peak, Altar of Storms, Alterac Mountain, Andorhal, Anetheron, Anvilmar, Archimonde, Arygos, Black Dragonflight, Blackwing Lair, Dalaran, Dalvengyr, Deathwing, Demon Soul, Dentarg, Doomhammer, Duskwood, Executus, Gnomeregan, Haomarush, Icecrown, Jaedenar, Kel’Thuzad, Khadgar, Lethon, Mal’Ganis, Norgannon, Onyxia, Scilla, Sentinels, Steamwheedle Cartel, Tanaris, The Venture Co, Thrall, Turalyon, Uldaman, Undermine, Ysera, Ysondre and Zuluhed.

I haven’t tried out the integrated voice chat on test, but I really hope it has voice/volume normalization of some sort, otherwise we’ll be reblogging stories about increased deafness rates in the casual gaming population due to heroic PUGs and breathy LOLzerz girls who log into voice with “HAY GUYZ! CAN I HAVE THE NETHER FROM THE BOSS FOR MY BOYFRIEND? HAHAHAHA”

  1. I predict I will get a very bad finger cramp from mouse clicking the mute button.

But then again, I desperately want in real life the functions I have in WoW to separate out the annoying people.

Imagine if you could “Report Spam” the guy asking you for change everyday on your walk to work. Or leave the “Family General Channel” at Thanksgiving. Life would get a little more livable imo.

  2. The one time I tried voice chat on the PTR it was really quiet. Not sure if I just didn’t have the settings right or what. Of course, it was really late on a Saturday after a raid and I was pretty drunk at the time.

Hmmm…drunk, tired raiders doing beta testing. Maybe that’s Blizz’s trouble with patching.
