Bring Enough Love Tokens for the Entire Class

This month’s World of Warcraft holiday content is for Valentine’s Day: Love is in the Air. Remember that part about how I thought the special event content was well done and not overly annoying to participate in? I take it back. The good: the food rewards have stat bonuses. The stupid: Who has the time to run all over the cities passing out Valentine’s cards? (They’re called Love Tokens, but we know they’re just Valentine’s cards.) Who would have the bag space to carry all the quest pieces? Not me and nobody I raid with does either. For future reference: In March, I won’t have the bag space to collect shamrocks, but I’ll gladly take a pot of gold and some green ale as a reward.

World of Warcraft is NOT a Golf Course

I had mentioned before that this Joi Ito dude plays World of Warcraft. (I reblog myself.) 1up recently interviewed Ito about World of Warcraft as the new way to make business connections … the golf course evolved, so to speak. Listen. You don’t want to play WoW with coworkers (or worse, clients), you don’t want to be guilded with them, you don’t even want them to KNOW your dirty little Warcraft secret and I’ll tell you why: Game drama intruding on real life is catastrophic — we’re talking worlds-collliding-type catastrophic. Don’t let this happen to you. Work people ask me if I’ve heard about this “World of Warcraft thing”, my standard answer is, “I’ve dabbled”, then I walk away. That’s my Constitution: separation of play and work.

Whole Lotta Upgrading Going On

Upgrading to WordPress 2.0.1 and K2 r167. This assumes that the server will cooperate, which is a mighty big assumption.

Also, I will be updating some plugins (ELA, BLC and UTW — that’s a note to me so I don’t fergit) AND changing breaking the site design, so expect a brave new world on Monday.

That is all, citizens.

Hey. By the way. What are you doing hanging out here on a weekend? Jeez, go play a game.

UPDATE: Finished, except for a few minor hacks, subpage edits and a resolution never to overhaul the layout again. I was looking forward to a little Warcraft tonight — Sunday is raid-free and minty fresh! — HOWEVER, I’m stuck in an hour+ queue. Wish I would have remembered to start the login a couple of hours ago while I was still hacking CSS files.

Best incidental effect of World of Warcraft on the entire entertainment industry: improved primetime television viewership by queued WoW players.
