Because I’m so skilled at finding strange and unusual internet stuff, I ran into this Flickr photo set recently of Cory Doctorow’s (Boing Boing) visit to Sony Online Entertainment in March 2005. At first, I was wondering if anyone can walk into SOE and start handling these original sketches for Star Wars Galaxies and Ultima Online (wtf!), then I did a little profile digging and all became clear. Interesting: The original EverQuest servers, now retired, and the buttass ugly furniture in the SOE reception area.

History of Azeroth
Warcraft guild progression by server: History of Azeroth. Currently, there’s over 450 guilds reporting their progress through the endgame content — some servers have zero guilds participating, some have upwards of 19 and 20 guilds reporting. I’d say you could spy on your rival guilds with this, but I know that you already know very well where everyone on your server is because EVERY guild has a guy that just HAS to announce in guild chat when other guilds kill ThisMob or ThatMob as if we need a fooking raid ticker in chat. Meh.
Another Warcraft P-P-P-Patch
Late breaking Warcraft news, Patch 1.9.2 on 1/12/06, quoting Caydiem:
At midnight PST on January 12th (approximately four hours from now), we will be issuing a small client-side patch to address the issue of “stuttering” player movement. There will be no realm restarts involved, however it will require players to restart the game to download the patch. We have developed and released this correction as quickly as possible and apologize for the disruption of play this issue may have caused.
Good deal, cuz that shit was A-NNOY-ING.
