Random Convo

I was talking to this guy at work that plays Warcraft also. (Ya, scary.) We were chuckling about the forums and how some of the huge issues that come along, nary a blue (Blizz employee) response. But some asslicker posts how much he likes the game and THANK YOU LORD JESUS for Blizzard and their fabulous game, there’s a blue response all over that like stink on shit.

It’s only human nature, after all, to need and crave accolades at times, but this isn’t kindergarten. I assume people are being paid money to monitor the forums, and I further assume that these hires are adults, so how about focusing on the issues that matter instead of the stage bows?

We’ve got a /bug function that’s inoperative, a Chinese farmer infestation like the scabies (if you believe the forum posters’ anecdotal figures), an Auction House that apparently can’t do basic math AND is stealing money and items, characters sailing through the 50s with perma-rested experience, et fucking al — if you’re looking for hard responses to any of that, you’ve got a lot of hope.

Admittedly, keeping up with the forums when there’s 600,000 voices crying out is damn near impossible — but if I, fool that I am, can successfully skim over the tired and trite “Top Signs that Ur Playing 2 Much Warcraft!1!11” and find the potential gamebreakers, I think they can too.

Cripes, even a “I’ll ask about this” response would suffice. Well, and then actually ask about it and followup. The added bonus is that the post is then tagged with Blue so that dopes like me can follow the issue to its ultimate resolution.

Ya, ya. I’ve got a lot of hope.

I Become Bitter and Twisted

Now I realize that not everything can be fun and games: hard work and reward, pleasure and pain, suffering and relief … one cannot exist without the other. Not every quest can, or should, be “run out five feet, kill 3 of these and return for uberness.” But, dammmn, some of these 50+ quests in Warcraft are a real bitch.

Lately, I’ve been camping these craft components for at least a century in gametime, and all those excrutiating quests from other worlds are passing before my eyes like a House of Horrors. Mountains of corpses at my feet, and, all I have to show for it are backpacks full of crap and ONE of the target items … ONE of sixteen.

It occurs to me, if They (that’s the Developer They Collective) were trying to piss me off, They’re succeeding admirably. And, if I were to write a short list of ways They can infuriate me with Their quests, it would look like this:
