Warcraft has their realm status page up and running. I’ll see how this works. All the MMOGs I’ve played, rarely did the status page truly indicate if the server was playable, as in … I can log in, retrieve my character and go whack some moles. Hey, it could happen, but I had the hope nerfed out of me long ago.

OOO, WoW, A Contest
Somebody has got to step up to the plate over at Blizzard and give that joint a personality … or a good hard slap.
New contest for World of Warcraft, recreate movie scenes in screenshots with your characters. Not a bad idea, in fact, could be a great idea if players get into it. Not me, of course, but better players could do some creative work with this.
From the contest rules (again, bla bla Blizzard permalinks may not work even two days after posted here), here’s the prize:
A. Grand Prize: . One (1) qualified entrant will have the screen shot that they submitted displayed in association with the Grand Prize Winner’s World of Warcraft character name, on the World of Warcraft website located at www.worldofwarcraft.com and the Sponsor’s official website located at www.blizzard.com.
Christ, I’d hardly call that a “prize”. Why don’t they just say they’ll use it on the front page and leave it at that. The way they outline the “prize” in legalese and other grand language, I’m expecting they’ll warn the winner that he/she may owe taxes on it.
I, Ugly American
As I’ve already disclosed, my current guild is composed of many nationalities. (Note the use of “current” guild … ya, they’re on the bubble. More on that some other time.) I’m too lazy to calculate percentages, but I’d guess that it’s 20 – 25 percent non-Americans and 80 percent Americans.
Since I’m a stereotypical ugly American, I’ve made some stereotypical observations about the ugly non-Americans. It’s not politically correct, and it’s fundamentally inaccurate, but there are interesting cultural differences. (And, if you think I would worry about being politically correct, you haven’t been paying attention.)
