While I’m still waiting on WoW server #40-something to wake up, and, I’m idly completing some paperwork for My Real Job, I made my weekly family phonecalls. Christmas isn’t far away … got to keep in their good graces so I can avoid the annual “airing of family grievances” when I visit.
As I was talking to one of my brother’s kids — the one that shares his uncle’s odd penchant for killing pretend monsters — I asked what he thought about EverQuest 2. Got to keep in touch with the 14 year olds’ rap, donchaknow.
Him: sucks. what you think?
Me: don’t play it.
Him: what??? how come?
Me: busy with work.
Him: sucks.
Me: ya. Why you say it sucks?
Him: can’t solo even as noob.
Me: oh.
There you have it. The 14 year olds give EQ 2 thumbs down. I pressed for further details, but all I could get out of him was that EQ 2 was apparently for “fags” because it was so “ghey”, and his “posse” was returning to EQ-Original. Ya.
Discussion turns to Halo 2.
Him: rocks.
Me: fun, huh?
Him: o ya.
Me: cool.
Him: ya, cool.
And a thumbs up for Halo 2! You really can’t get this kind of insight on the better blogs. Turning to Warcraft.
Me: tried Warcraft beta?
Him: ya. If you can login, snap! Otherwise, might as well do homework.
Me: sucks.
Him: ya.
(Then the conversation turned to sports.)
The 14 year olds have spoken: EQ2 – ghey; Halo 2 – cool; Warcraft – potentially cool. EQ – always cool.
Signing off, from out in the field,
