WoW Patch 2.3 Scheduled for November 13

That’s next Tuesday, kids.

From Drysc’s fingers to your eyes:

While testing continues and a delay could possibly change these dates, we are currently planning to start Season 3 on November 20 once the realms come back up from their weekly maintenance. This means that Season 2 will come to a close when the realms come down for maintenance on November 20. During that maintenance the final standings are taken and the end of season rewards are distributed.

The start date for Season 3 is purposefully planned to be one week later than the release of patch 2.3, which is currently scheduled for November 13. We will be closely monitoring the testing of the 2.3 patch, and if it looks like it won’t make the November 13 date, we will announce a delay.

With the end of the current season all previous recipients of the end of season titles will have them removed, and the titles will be redistributed for participation in Season 2. A unique armored swift nether drake, visually distinguishable from the Season 1 reward, will be awarded to the top 0.5% of teams. We’ve recently added new requirements for a team to be counted when determining the top 0.5%, which can be found here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=2649798359&sid=1

(emphasis mine.)

Sure glad my characters are honor capped already.

  1. Yay. Next week I can begin to unleash my army of level 20 alts upon the world as I level them all to 70. Or 60. Whichever comes first before I get bored.

  2. I’ve never spent so much time in my gaming (life? career?) prepping for a patch as I have for WoW 2.3. PVP grind to mitigate the honor nerf, getting alts ready for the improved leveling, tightening the screws on the 10-man guild teams, and, the badge-o-rama. It’ll be a relief when the patch is finally here.

  3. Just add to the preparation and anticipation. Something little mentioned in the patch are the leatherworking changes. They are taking 2 essential leveling patters (the drums from Sha’tar rep and drums from Keepers of Time rep) and making them available at honored instead of exhaulted. These are perhaps the only 2 recipes without pretty expensive materials that can get you from 365-375. I’ve got a boomkin alt looking to make the Tribal Armor set, but I’ve been waiting for this change so I can finally top off my skill.

Oh and I forgot to mention that they are changing the materials for those drums by removing the Primals (air and fire) and replacing them with Fel Hide and Clefthoof leather, which is a pretty nice reduction in input costs.

  4. Ground out almost max honor on two chars, plus all the requisite badges, for mountains of S1 gear come patch time. I’m almost physically tired from it. Hope I never set foot in a BG again.

  5. Great news. I believe this would be an appropriate time to resub (again), as I am interested in testing out the improved leveling. Now to pick a server..

  6. @Puhase – I forgot about the drums! The day suddenly seems much brighter. Less clefthoof grinding = GG

  7. Wo, finally! I just like the new interfaces (the quests, the good tracking device for trainers etc, that is a must). To me (or any botter), primals are still easier than others, so the drum change is not so hot (except the honored part)

  8. Wow, that’s a huge improvement for skilling up leatherworking, then. I don’t regret having maxxed it, the dragonscale stuff is nice for my hunter; but when/if I finish leveling my old hunter, I’ll be ecstatic not to be grinding clefthoof/paying for primal earths.

On the bonus side, the boots I made skilling up got me crystals to put enchants on weapons.

  9. For the alts, it will be very nice to see the changes in Pre BC Dungeon Boss loot. We could see some nice improvements on gear that you worked hard (Or got lucky) getting.

  10. This patchis going to be cheap, i mean now half the world of warcraft will have flying ecip mounts, which i have to pay 5000 gold for is riduced to 2000! WTF is that. and now that i have full season 2 areana gear everyone can farmhonor to the season one gear and will be automatically fully epiced. this sucks

  11. I think yu misread what the guy meant. He spent insane amount of time to get 5000G and his arena season 2 gear while all the peasants now can get it with little sweat and no skillz.

Welfare epic for the win! Yeah wow is getting so cheap so fast that you better wait a little while to get anything instead of raiding or doing anything else that takes too much time.

This is terrible for hardcore who quit the game and when they quit, many will follow because the game will become boring for all. Easy rewards is never a good answer to anything!

  12. I kinda agree, I for one spent two months farming 5K gold for my flyer and have to listen to everyone bitch about how expensive it is all the time. My reply….FARM IT…..like we all did…..lol.

As far as S1 glad gear for honor though I agree with that, especially since they’re making the more desirable S3 pieces rating dependant, and there is almost no way for me to catch up with elite arena ppl as their gear will now be that much better (AGAIN) than mine. Arena points come too slowly to begin with. Also, the S1 glad staff or spellblade will really help me, since I’ve been running Kara like every night for THREE MONTHS and no Staff of Infinite Mysteries or Mindblade lol.
