PVP Relations

As I said before, I’m really enjoying the cross-server PVP battlegrounds in Warcraft. It’s not so much the fast and furious queues as the constant arguments. I was even ditching guild raids for a time so I could PVP — while on the DKP waiting list mind you — and watch some more x-server arguments.

Sometimes, the x-server battlegroup mates will come to our realm forums to continue the arguments or to share screenshots of us losing a battleground miserably. I really wonder what’s the purpose of that — we’re not running around saying we never lose … far from it. We sometimes lose in a most spectacular way. I recall at least two times on Friday night when our server PVP raid could not hold the Arathi Basin stables for love nor money. Certainly, Arathi Basin can be won by the Alliance without the stables, but it’s a point of pride with me.

Speaking of Friday night and that server PVP raid group, I was ninja invited into the raid by a guildmate and I, in turn, ninja invited Raidleader into the raid. Immediately, we noticed that BabbleOn (she of prior weeks’ story — Part I and Part II) was leading this PVP hoe-down. It was hard to miss — she kept spamming her own Ventrilo information for people to join.

(Ya. No fucking way.)

Anyhow, we were having a conversation in /bg chat about some assbag shaman that wanted to die by our hands, repeatedly, when she said something like: what in the hell are you guys talking about? She must have looked at the raid roster because then she said: Oh. People on my ignore list are in here.

I just love gaming moments like that. We left soon after because more guildmates wanted to join in and she had a waitlist for the raid or some bullshit, and also … we were laughing so hard about the ignore list and the new titles she granted us (Raidleader the Fucker and Foton the Asshole), that we were completely useless for PVP.

I was really hoping that she’d scream (or ALL CAPS) “I’ll fucking kill you” because that’s a personal gaming goal of mine — to have someone scream “I’ll fucking kill you” and mean it — but no luck on that. I truly believe I came close this time, however.

Anyways, I’ve been collecting some x-server screenies to share:

May Your Children Strangle You

That was one guy yelling at another guy who didn’t tap the flag in Arathi Basin. Seems to me that “useless/worthless prick” is a very underrated insult. I’m going to add this to my regular rotation of PVP insults directed towards teammates.

Learn to Heal

Here’s another guy upset about the quality of healing in the PVP battlegrounds but he really fell short on his insult. I have a feeling that kids nowadays don’t even blink when their parents get divorced. Isn’t it more like “what took you guys so long?” rather than “GOD NO!! WHY?? WHY?? Is it me? It’s me, isn’t it?”

Next, my new favorite guild name:

At Least We Took Stables

Because who on Alliance doesn’t know the pain of being five-capped (shut out) in Arathi Basin? If you haven’t been so shamed, then you must be new.

I took this last shot when I was ducking a guild raid. As I understood it, from the outside looking in, things weren’t going so well and the raidleader left vent before he ordered everyone out of the guild. His succinct summary of the problem:

When Raid Leaders Cry

Hey, guilty as charged.

  1. I love that guild name. Very clever.

As for cross server BGs, I’m not really interested in the honor system so it’s gotten to where I only run with friends and guildies. If they’re not running it I feel no reason to go. Pretty funny excerpts from BG chat though. One thing about cross server BGs, you really should watch what you say. One of my friends (remains nameless) has a pally on a server in our battlegroup. I was playing on it and some guy kept cussing at the rest of the raid, saying how worthless in AV we were. I noticed he was from my server Dark Iron and he was level 51. Needless to say I jumped on my BWL fury warrior and camped him for about 2 hours. Good fun.

  2. Nothing in god’s green earth will scar you like coming up against a 10 man paladin squad in WSG. I can still see their stun hammers, even when I close my eyes.

  3. On my particular battlegroup, it seems like the Alliance has a pretty good handle on AV and AB, but can’t win WSG for love nor money. My current guild is trying to put a PVP group together, but in the meantime it’s PUG PUG PUG, and the Alliance PUGs in my battlegroup simply do not know how to win WSG.

It _will_ be pretty sweet when BC comes out and the horde get a taste of what an all-around PITA shamans are.

  4. You can have the shammys, give me pallys! On a more serious note, it really comes down to organization and gear, with organization being > gear. Friends don’t let friends BG in PUGs.

  5. meh, just got tired of it. Yes, that was the old Maxell ad. I think everyone’s big brother had that poster in their college dorm rooms. I think my big brother STILL has that poster somewhere.

I’ll probably bring it back some day, but I’m (slowly) working on a new site design so Maxell dude is shelved for now.

  6. The most curious thing about x-server battlegrounds that occurred in my battlegroup was the change in AV playstyle.

Previously it used to be a giant clusterfuck in the middle, with one side pushing forward but then losing ground to the other, back and forth, for hours upon hours. Alliance typically lost more often than it won and it was excruciatingly painful to play.

Then x-server hit and it changed overnight. Alliance rushes for Captain Galv and proceeds onward, while Horde rushes for Captain Whatever-Her-Name-Is. A few players on each side hang back to play defence, but it’s basically 30 people on offense and it’s a race to see who can zerg the quickest.

Occasionally you come across a game where people still play the old way and it’s a multiple hour exercise in turtling and futility, but otherwise games take less than 20 minutes and it’s huge amounts of rep all around.

  7. Our on-server AVs before cross-server were more often than not zerg races after the NPC patch. If you want to see people screaming in a BG, keep that fight at Stonehearth going.

  8. Honestly Shaman are not that pwnage…

isn’t that SO last year…?? Especially after Pally tweaking…

Besides Endgame contents WILL be easier when we can get healers and decursers that wear plate and bubble you of trouble for 12 sec.

Then we get more of the good gear to compliment our leet skills ๐Ÿ˜‰

But honestly most of TBC is gonna ruin so many aspects of the game.

gorram it Blizzard, you didn’t… you just didn’t

sorry for going of topic ๐Ÿ˜›

    …Forseti

  9. Hahahah that was an enlightening and amusing read, especially about AV. Sometimes I’ll just hang around iceblood with the explicit purpose of irritating the hell out of our raidleaders. 9/10 times they even deserve it too ๐Ÿ™‚ nice to see these things are universal and not just European/American.

  10. good guildname. pissing people off is kinda childish. and finally. Dont let bloody elves into the Horde!! And kill every shammy that will work for the alliance. kill them dead. and corpsecamp them forever. bleeding traitors!

distributing pallies and shammies to both factions is bad call. whats the difference between horde and alliance then? only graphics. ๐Ÿ™

  11. X realm Bg’s I think are good as lots of PvP but I liked it better before as we could make good groupes and go against horde who we knew instead of going against random people who we don’t care about at all. Is there any way you could just like merge the realms? (not to big ofc) but I would really like it back to the way it was so we can battle our friends. I know a lot of people who have stopped PvP as of these X realm Bgs but I am feeling on doing the same now. Going against random peole bores me. I want the thrilling feeling when the other faction makes a char and /w you “man your really good in BG” and then they and others fee=ar you:P Really funny hehe.

So…. all im asking is “BRING back the old PvP! and Bring back our PEOPLE”

  12. The worst part of this whole deal for us RP-people on the RP andRPPVP-servers is that we are forced to fight our battlegrounds together with hardcore PVP-ers who ruin our gaming experience.

They have names like “KUKISKALLEN” (Swedish for “Penis in the head”), kebab, brรƒยถdrosten (Swedish for “Toaster”), Iloveporn, jlojhlflllofjo and other shitty names that should be banned.

They also ruin the gaming experience by calling everyone noob and yelling things in leetspeak as well calling out improper sentences.

Please Blizzard! Isolate the RP-servers cross-realm battlegrounds from the PVP- and Normal servers! let RP-people play with RP-people, undisturbed bu raging hardcore PVP-ers who ruin the game for us!
