Vanity, Thy Name is Wiki User Pages

Here’s a rather elaborate Warcraft character bio in Wikipedia’s User Pages for Algormortis, self-described elite priest of the Horde. Which reminds me, I’ve tried a few of the equipment profilers available for Warcraft and they really blow. It’s not like the EQ days when everyone had a Magelo page and we passed out our Magelo ID like it was our cell number. Think that’s my primary beef, there’s too many Warcraft profilers around — we need ONE.

  1. It’s true, there are way too many. I’ve tried thottbot (you can see my character profiles on my blog from thottbot) and WarcraftRealms, but the best way I found was to use Character Profiler and host it yourself. My guild website does that. That’s one of the best all around packages I’ve seen. But yeah, there’s about a hundred different options and everyone’s using one of them.

  2. I love Wikipedia. I fixed a couple obvious errors in that biography (the spelling of “The Sepulchre” and “Eastern Kingdoms,” not Kalimdor n00b).

I always had a soft spot for Allakhazam’s character profiles, but I found it to be unreliable at updating all our characters.

  3. Um, maybe you’re British and it’s different there. But Sepulcher is spelled like that everywhere I’ve seen it in game. 🙂 Just double checked the official site, and if you click through on the map to Silverpine Forest, it’s there, The Sepulcher.

    I, too, love Wikipedia.
