Maybe, Warcraft info like this (Tigole, Blizz dude and ex-EQ hag on FoH forums) should be posted somewhere here, here, or even here first, before the talk turns to this or this.

Just in case the drama might die down, these friendly and helpful FoH members joined in on the fun. (Word to the wise: Muzzle your bitches, FoHror.)

And, remember this when they introduced the Test Server?

Moving forward, all players who have an active World of Warcraft account will be eligible to participate in testing on the test realms. However, this initial testing phase requires characters between the levels of 55 and 60 in order to properly test the content and functionality for the next patch. Email invitations have been sent out to a random set of players who meet these qualifications. (emphasis mine.) Their level 55 to 60 characters have been copied to the test realm and will be waiting for them when they log in for the first time.

Guess that was just bullshit, too.

Day in the life, man. Just another day in the life.

UPDATE: Tigole chastised. Although why this would not have been obvious to him before remains a mystery.

Rather than more openness in the official forums in the future, I’m betting that the upshot of this will be Tigole getting his wrist slapped by his bosses at Blizzard, if not worse. What he tells his guildies in the future will be as underground and deniable as he can make it.

As a gamer, I want to know what’s going to be in a patch in as much detail as possible, as far in advance as possible. But as a developer I’m all for limiting that sort of disclosure on products I’m working on, just to keep my options open. This way, if some of the items on the wish list for the patch turn out to be a little more difficult than first guessed, the blowback is minimized.
