Dumb Luck That

A few of us in the e-thug guild came from the same EverQuest server and the same guild — eventually that is, after brief vacations in other virtual worlds. We are quite the melting pot of online gaming if you were to examine the myriad relationships and histories that brought us altogether into World of Warcraft. The current clique works and that’s all that matters at this point.

But the few of us, we came from EverQuest, same guild. And on our former EQ server, we had arch enemies, as was natural for anyone that played EQ for longer than six months — after about six months, more or less, we all had a list of players that had fucked us over repeatedly, and we, them, in turn.

It was a tight community … like a noose.

Imagine our delight when we discovered that one of our arch enemy guilds had chosen our WoW server as their Warcraft destination. About a month ago, they posted on our server forums that they had arrived. (heh. Apparently they must have finally noticed the dwindling population in Norrath.) We EQ people groaned audibly, ‘GOD! Why us?’

Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, they walk into ours.

One of the formerly UO-addicted (read: Not EQ) guys asked what the deal was — Would we ditch everything we built to get away from these idiots (that he had never heard of before)?

Man! Was he even hearing us? They were Arch Enemies. Arch!

To listen to them way back when, we killed every trigger mob we could because all we did was think of how to screw them. They were in perma-/petition mode every night and PNP was their god. Thanks to their whinery, we had a GM on our collective ass many nights, dogging our every move, in case they might EVER have the force to kill anything.

I can see how this seemed ridiculous to those that were never attached to the EQ tit. And, if it weren’t for majority rule and for cooler heads prevailing, as God is my witness, I would have turned my back on everything for peaceful pastures on another server.

Of all the gin joints. Goddamn.
