You Will Obey the Priests

Four Horde priests, out for a bit of fun, mind-controlled a 59 Alliance rogue and sent her to kill the Gadgetzan griffon master. Said rogue is now hated in Gadgetzan, (goblins being very intolerant of misbehavior in their towns), and is facing billions of faction kills to get back into their good graces.

By level 59, chances are that she’s done all the goblin quests so billions of kills are the only option to restore the faction. Given the same situation, I’d rather start over than spend a week killing shit mobs for a dribble of goblin faction.

Read the tale of woe for yourself. According to the player, she petitioned a GM and was told “working as intended”, which is confirmed by Tyren, Blizzard minion, in post #19:

Under the current policies, this is allowed, however, we are aware of these complaints and are working with the dev team to address these issues.

Harsh.

(Here’s additional arguments about the validity of the rogue’s story: whether there would be a faction hit, whether the Horde priests could chain mind-control/heal from Gadgetzan rooftops, whether a 59 rogue could shred through an elite NPC before mind-control breaks, etc.)

How hard or gamebreaking could it possibly be to help out these people by resetting their faction?

I’ve always hated NPC faction systems. There is no game chore more odious than grinding faction and I avoid it at all costs. A quest reward has to be class defining before you’ll see my sorry ass killing shit mobs to garner favor with an NPC group.

Which is why I’m always on my best behavior in the goblin towns. I’ve run across some PvP-enabled Horde in those areas — I just nod a courtesy greeting and go about my business. Tempting, to be sure, but not worth the bullshit consequences.

Those goblins are hardcore. Shape up, or they’ll ship you out.
